Thanks to everyone who attended the "Back to School Pool Party" on Friday, August 13th. A great time was had by many of the homeowners. The kids had a fun time swimming and the adults socializing. Pizza was donated for the kids to eat (and adults too) along with drinks and brownies. Others donated a deli tray, chicken wings, chips, dips and an assortment of drinks for the adults.
The pavilion was decorated with white lights courtesy of Heather Vosburg along with some music. The temperature ended up dropping just a little making it a great night to hang out at the pool and socialize.
A big thanks to Sarah LaBorde, Heather Vosburg and Emily Johnson for helping set up this fun event. Again, thanks to those that donated food and drinks for everyone to enjoy! It's great to see our subdivision coming together as a community. Look for the next social event sometime in the fall.
Hummingbirds

Hummingbirds are particularly active this time of year. You can attract them to your yard with an inexpensive feeder and some sugar water. While you can purchase the red premixed liquid food, I have found that better food can be made by mixing about 1/3 of a cup of table sugar, with about 3/4 cup of water in a small pot. Bring to a boil, stirring regularly until dissolved. Pour into a pyrex measuring cup and add a few ice cubes to get you to one cup. Pour that mixture into your feeder and you will have hummingbirds around your yard in no time at all. (Picture courtesy of Pamela Anderson)
